Monday- Friday 8:30am - 11:00am & 4:30pm - 8:00pm

Overview:

Under the general supervision of the Swim Lesson Coordinator, the Swim Lesson Instructor position is responsible for conducting an instructional aquatic program aimed at increasing safety and swimming, fitness or diving skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Instruct and demonstrate appropriate aquatic skills to participants.
2. Enforce all rules and regulations as assigned by the Coordinator.
3. Complete appropriate certificates and reports for individual students before the end of each session.
4. Report any equipment or resource needs to Coordinator.
5. Inform participants of meeting location prior to each session.
6. Maintain a high level of readiness and preparedness in handling any emergency situation.
7. Demonstrate and support park district customer service standards.
8. Follow district and departmental safety, personnel, and administrative policies, procedures and ordinances.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Display professionalism with parents, students and peers.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrate excellent communication skills (i.e., professional ability to attend participant and parent needs).
• Ability to address complaints and resolve concerns as needed.
• Ability to teach required skills.
• Demonstrate promptness and advanced preparation.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum one (1) year of experience as an instructor preferred.

Special Considerations:

• Subject to outside environmental conditions. Entrance into the water on a daily basis required.
• Ability to lift light to medium weight (20-50 lbs.) objects.
• Appropriate swimsuit required.
